I booked a going away party for a colleague of mine in this pub.

It was fantastic! Not only was the phone of the pub answered after one ring (on both occasions I called) but when we arrived they had re-arranged the upstairs room with many many couches and chairs all around a central couple of tables to accomodate our needs.

The best thing is that a bunch of foreign exchange students tried to sit in our area and the barmaid told them to push off! It was wonderful.

The beer was cheap, the chips were plentiful, and I got extremely innebriated and didn't even have to break a twenty.

It was a great hanging out pub. No loud music, no pushy bastards trying to get into my knickers, no overpriced cocktails, and most importantly plenty of toilet paper stacked in the loos.

It was slightly difficult navigating myself up and down the rickity staircase to get the top floor bar, but that's not really the pubs fault.

All in all I think it's a fantastic place to come for a friendly drink.

Good Sam Smiths Pub

Any Samuel Smiths Brewery pub in London is worth a try - £1.99 for a decent house lager is a good deal! Sam Smith was the decent brother of the money grabbing John Smith - tasteless corporate beer maker. Sam Smiths pubs use organic indgredients, brew all their own products - including the cola and spirits. The interiors are usually interesting or at least untouched by modernisation and the staff are proud of their employers. This is no execption, large uncluttered, darts in the back room, long bar, a few local characters, normally fairly quiet.
