Massive Bookstore
December 05, 2007
Generally speaking I wouldn't say that a Waterstones is worthy of special mention here, but the Gower Street location is a bit different. Located, as it is, beside the University of London, this Waterstones is in fact the school bookstore for the university. As such, it is absolutely packed to the gills with books, both academic and diversionary.
Situated over several floors in a large building on Gower street, the entrance is actually on Torrington Place. Different floors have different focuses, with the ground floor containing a lot more of the quickly moving books, best sellers and the like. But don't despair, you can find plenty of obscure and woolly thinkers represented here. There's also an in-store coffee shop, so if you feel the need to dive into your books right away, there is a comfortable opportunity to do so.
This may not be the very best bookstore in London, but it's got to be the best chain bookstore, and it is quite satisfying for most of your needs. They also have several desks to make orders and when I encountered them, I found the employees to be knowledgeable and helpful. Worth a visit if you're having a hard time finding your book.
