A little gem
October 02, 2008
How this little pub makes any money is beyond me, as it always appears to be empty, but it's a hidden gem. Pretty inside and out, often with art on the walls (which you can occasionally buy), there are booths for privacy and a smashing, cosy little restaurant in the back, with a fire in winter. The food can be hit and miss (the sweet honey in the gravy served with the Sunday roast is a mistake, methinks), but it's a friendly place and all the better for not being too crowded. A lovely place to retreat to with the papers for a leisurely lunch at the weekend, or to meet friends after work for a glass of wine and a chat. Tip: great place to meet a crowd of friends for birthday drinks, too. It's like having your own private bar!
