I've eaten at the Humaira a number of times and always received good food and average service. I decided to grab an early supper before getting my train home and as I was passing noticed the restaurant wasn't too busy so decided to call in.

Despite being very dark, the service was OK and as I knew exactly what I wanted I ordered immediately.

The food came quite quickly: poppadums followed by a lamb biriyani. The biriyani was a large portion with a small dish of vegetable sauce which was equally good. As there was insufficient sauce I asked for a refill.

When I got my bill they'd charged ne for a side order of vegetable curry.

In summary, very gloomy (dark) restaurant, fairly miserable unaccomodating staff, nice tasting food with a hint of being ripped off as the final taste in my mouth.

If you do risk it - I will never return again - then check your bill as this was a clear display of customer disregard, blantant overcharging and lack of customer focus. I did challenge the bill but obviously my value to them was £3.50 - the amount they unfairly charged for what they should have provided in the first place.

Best Indian on a Budget!

If you wanna push the boat out and impress a girl, you can take her to Red Fort restaurant in Soho - orgasmic food, posh environment (although why you'd want to stink of curry to ensure you don't get a good-night kiss or get asked to come in for a night-cap is beyond me). However, if you're past that first flush of romance and just want to take her to a nice Indian restaurant because...well, she now knows you're capable of smelling of worse things than curry (morning-after alcohol breath, for example), then GO TO HUMAIRA!

I've been going to this tucked-away Indian restaurant on Judd Street for over 4 years and have yet to experience a bad meal or bad service. The staff are courteous, everything - I mean everything - on the menu is gorgeous. Chicken's juicy, the lamb virtually melts in the mouth, and the peshwari naan has to be tasted to be believed!
I have also given the price full-marks because it is so reasonable for the taste sensations and service you get, meal with beer/wine is about £25/head. Even if not for a romantic night out, the unassuming & unpretentious environment means that Humaira is also great for meeting up with old friends, and even work dos.

All I can say is go. You'll have a fabulous time! (Still can't guarantee you'll get nookie that night though. Jeez, I've suggested the restaurant, you do the rest!)
