All about the Red Velvet

A while ago I was lucky enough to discover what makes American girls tick - its simple really, they all love cupcakes and Morrissey. Now thats a bit of a generalisation but its true in most cases - same for English girls although yu have to swap Morrissey for Julian from The Strokes or perhaps Brad Pitt. Whatever - girls love cupcakes and there few better places in London that Hummingbird Bakery.

Its run by the same people that have the Magnolia in New York's West Village (where the queues have to be seen to be believed). Its pretty small in there and there's only a couple of seats which you'll be lucky to get on a Saturday when its rammed. They offer a few different cupcakes in different sizes and all manner of cakes that look heavy enough to stop elephants in their tracks! But yeah its all about one cupcake and that's the Red Velvet - its a red vanilla sponge thats a bit chocolatey with icing and supposedly its 'divine'. They are actually amazing but one is enough and thats a good thing as they cost £1.85 a pop - but trust me guys your girlfriend will love you for it.
