Oxfam is a development, advocacy, and relief agency working to put an end to poverty worldwide. In partnership with local groups, they work with poor people to help them help themselves. The Oxfam shops sell second-hand clothes, books and bric-a-brac as well as trade fair goods to help raise money for the charity.

The Oxfam Bookshop situated at 47 Highgate High Street in Highgate Village is a delightful place to browse and find superb books at bargain prices.

I've often found rare first edition books there, along with excellent children books.

In addition to attracting local 'Highgatians' and tourists en route to Highgate Cemetery, the shop also seems to attract a number of celebrities who live in the area.

The volunteers there are very friendly and seem keen to please.
