Great shoe repairs

I saw the negative review, so just had to write this. I have been taking my high-end shoes to this shoe repairer for 25 years. I have never had a better job done anywhere in the world, and I have never had a complaint about any shoe repair. The old-fashioned craftsmanship of this shoe repairer is worth travelling a long way for. I travel from the outer suburbs to bring my shoes here, and apparently they have clients from considerably further afield than this. I would never take my shoes anywhere else.

This is one of the few places that stocks Alfred Sargent shoes. They have a small range but the brands are good. They even have a small selection of shoes that they have commissioned themselves.

I've found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Expensive meanos!

I was recommended Fifth Avenue because apparently they deal with high-end stuff so while they are expensive, they're supposed to be great.

I put a vintage bag where the strap had broken in last week. It was cleanly ripped but you could press the pleather (sic) back into place.

They costed it at £30 which is very pricey, but because the problem was cosmetic I paid up (half in advance).

I got it back today. The bag, while re-inforced (good), looks terrible. When I queried the job I was told quite rudely that 'however it was done, it was done properly'. He wouldn't even give me a discount.

I hate places that are smiles when they're trying to get your business and surly so-and-sos when you've completed the transaction.

I also got a wallet fixed which was reasonably priced and they did an alright job so they avoid getting one star.
