This pub is a short walk from our office, and we often come here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. They do the best value pub lunches which are also really decent; we particularly like their pies and their pork & lamb shanks. Servings are really generous, and for around £10 you can have lunch and a beer, unlike most pubs around here.

It seems recently that many more people have found out about this place and now it's advisable to book a table on a Friday lunchtime.

The bar staff could do with being a little more cheery, though!

Watch out for TV people

Every Friday the production team at my office goes here for a pub lunch. Why? Because it's cheap and they can drink. That just goes to show you a little something about the production team, but in any case about once a fortnight I usually accompany them.

The pub does great trade in lunchtime fare, and it's actually very nice. I've had a shoulder of lamb for £7 that was literally melting off the bone. I've also had a very decent sausage and mash for about a fiver. One bizarre individual in the office has a full breakfast for lunch and swears it's the best hangover cure in a five mile radius.

I would definately recommend it as an office pub lunch hang out. Big tables accomodate parties of 8 or more and they always serve all the dishes together which appeals to my obsessive addiction to old world table manners. Just make sure you watch out for a bunch of hungover TV production people eating breakfasts at one thirty in the afternoon.
