The first time I went to Imli, I was quite happy with the experience. It's relatively inexpensive and the concise menu is filled with refreshingly creative Indian "tapas" items. The second time however, was when everything went sour. Our prawn dish arrived with the prawns under (or un-) cooked. Ok, so mistakes happen... we sent the dish back to the kitchen and it would have been fine, except then the manager came out to argue and tell me that he in fact tasted the prawns we had sent back and they were not undercooked. What? Are you kidding me? It totally ruined the mood for everyone at the table. There's enough good restaurants in London, that I won't be going back here.

Intimidating menu, good food

I visited Imli this afternoon for lunch and had a decent meal. We arrived at around 12.30 to a nearly empty restaurant. After perusing the menu - which is quite intimidating if you have to choose from several options - we decided on the lunch menu. The special was priced at £7.50 which included a vegetarian thali and the choice of fish (salmon), chicken or vegetarian option. I also went for a lassi and some add on pappadams. The service was good although it did take about 15 minutes for the food to be delivered to our table which in my opinion is too long for a lunch special. The food was very nice. I always love having the variety offered in a thali and the portion size was just right. I especially enjoyed the dessert.

A cute touch was the little stick of incense that you get when you leave. I like those little touches.

Verdict: Would go back again and try to get over my fear of reading the long menu

Really enjoyed this modern Indian tapas. Order a good selection of dishes and breads. Salads are good as well. Unlike many varieties of indian cuisine, where once you tried one of the dishes its impossible to differentiate what you are eating afterwords, Imli offers dishes with string distinct flavour that are rich but not overwhelming.
Interesting decor for Indian restaurant.. my reviews today are full of preconceptions... I need to embrace this...

Great place for an informal lunch or dinner. I went there twice, one time with colleagues and another time with friends and on both occasions it was great.
I love to taste different dishes and this is a perfect way to do that.

I took my girlfriend there a few months back. We were chewing the fat about this, that and the other when I realised - I was with by far the best looking person in there. This epiphany leads me to urge you to visit, in the hope that maybe you too may experience such a wonderful feeling. The food's good too.

second visit and my meal was just as enjoyable. a great variety of dishes that are really freshly flavoured.

attentive service but not overbearingly so.

visited with my girlfriend and a group and equally appropriate for both occasions.

perhaps could be a wider variety of meat dishes - particularly for the price

Very good and autentic Indian food. The interior of the restautant is light and fresh and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent choice for an Indian dinner.
