A Good Place to Let Your Hair Down

5.0 out of 5.0

November 10, 2009

I'll be honest with you, bowling isn't necessarily 'my thing' but I had a surprisingly fun time here with friends last week. The American diner menu have several great dinner choices and their wine list was reasonably priced. Bowling was good fun. As I enthusiastically jumped up in the air to give my boyfriend a hi-five after knocking down 3 pins, I thought to myself maybe this bowling thing ain't all that bad.

Cocktails & Bowling fun!

5.0 out of 5.0

June 23, 2009

My friends and I decided to come here the other night for a couple of drinks; we had a great time and ended up staying longer than intended.
The cocktails were great and averagely priced for the area. Service at the bar was a little slow due to the volume of people in the venue, but the staff were friendly and it was worth the wait for our drinks!
While we were there we decided that we did want to bowl, luckily they have a ‘walk-in’ lane that we put our names down on and could wait at the bar until a space came free. It was so much fun even though we weren’t very good.
I will definitely be coming back and planning a proper night here as we didn’t get to sample the food!

Big Lebowski all the way

4.0 out of 5.0

What can I say? I'm American. We love bowling. But bowling at All Star Lanes has the added dimension of having great cocktails to get you nice and greased up for rolling.

All Star Lanes is done up in a retro, 50s American diner style that is funky and cool. It also sports a diner that serves up root beer, meatloaf and some pretty good burgers.

Note that you should probably book ahead because lanes are limited. It also isn't the cheapest of venues, but well worth it for some fun times. Make sure to indulge in a white russian ala Big Lebowski style. Oh and bring some socks because it isn't nice to think about how many feet have been in those bowling shoes before your own.

Retro parties are the way forward

5.0 out of 5.0

All Star Lanes is an ace party venue, all the more fun if you want a themed Grease party or something equally tacky.

It's great that London offers entertainment that is quite simply that little bit 'different'.

ASL gets really busy so not idea for an impromptu night out. It's pricey, and apparently you need to be a member to play there - but the experience is worth paying a little more for this funky bowling experience.

Small parties are best, unless you have £300 (per hour) spare to hire it out for private parties. Definately a great idea for corporate bashes or big celebrations if you want to hire the whole place.

They are soon opening one in Brick Lane, so look out for that. You can have pre or post bowling cocktails and snacks in the bar, which is the way forward - but there is also a resturant. I haven't eaten there but would say just going for bowling and cocktails.

If you go to Bayswater, round it off with dinner in Cous Cous (Morrocon) across the road or drinks in Harlem - 5 mins walk away.
