But since I'm not, it's fair to warn you that spending time here at happy hour will leave you much closer to deafness than ever before. A friend and I had stopped in for an early dinner on Wednesday night, and since the pub area didn't seem too busy, we chose to stay there over the sit-down restaurant.
We chose wrong.
Within about 15 minutes of sitting down, the place became all jammed sardines in suits, looming over us as we sat at our small table, their voices amplified and echoing off the cavernous ceiling and exposed brickwork. I had trouble hearing her at half a meter away. Actual deaf people, who would be signing anyway, should disregard this warning.
Otherwise, my vegetarian potato-leek soup was very nice, as were the pomme frites. Between two appetizers and the fries, we had too much food, which made the price reasonable again. And though I wasn't up for it then, I'd definitely consider going back for a beer--the booze menu looked super interesting.

While I have never eaten at the Brew Wharf, I have visited this spacious lofty bar/restaurant multiple times to have some delicious Meantime brews – one of a handful of places in London that includes various versions of this Greenwich microbrew on its draught beer list (so good that I have yet to try the Wharf brews). With the impressive beer menu of micro- and international brews, I am not sure how people find the time to eat here. Its location by Borough Market makes it a great gourmet beer stop after a gourmet shopping spree – while it is not the least expensive place to get a pint, beer lovers will not be disappointed. Right around the corner from the Wine Wharf, for those looking for a less hoppy aperitif.
