This is a great restaurant with a European feel. The service was very good, very pleasant and proactive in a positive sense.

We ate in the cellar, which wasn't as bad as it sounds, although next time I would rather be upstairs.

The lemon tart was not sour enough, and I wouldn't order it if you like a tart tart.

Everything else was great.

The best place for a boozy lunch

I rarely give 5 stars to any place - but this one warrants it. Shampers is a typical media person's Soho hangout, but I'd eat there willingly even if I wasn't one. It's very French and very old-world. I'm not sure when it was started but my boss started going here in the '80's. The food is genuinely brilliant, the most amazing subtle flavours to the seafood especially - I absolutely recommend the squid. Service is nice and personal. Again, almost always crowded and you'd do well to book a table in advance. It's not too expensive though, and the price they charge is well worth it. There's a cosy cellar downstairs where most of the tables are - the bar is upstairs. I can't wait to go there again.

Charming wine bar

Charming yet trendy little wine bar in the midst of soho. The regular clientele includes people from Soho's media and avdertising agencies. Food is good and fresh, and they have a great cellar.
