Does a great Sunday roast for 2!

I've never been here in the evening but they do a damn fine Sunday lunch - four options, including a veggie roast which is lovely and not at all dry, and a Corn-fed Chicken which cured a nasty hangover. Food and drinks are not cheap but standard prices for the area. The Sunday lunches are 2 for £12.50 which is more than fair considering the portions and quality. - Once attempted to eat two (might as well for the saving, right?!) and almost exploded!
It can be busy as a result so an early or late lunch is advised!

Staff are always helpful and friendly, although the bar is small so it can take a while to get to them, they do a table service most weekend afternoons though. Nice decor and vibe too, although the music can be repetitive.

Apparently they do a Monday night film screening in the basement bar, which could be good as it's got good sound and massive leather sofas, unfortunately I only remember this on Tuesdays..

Mysterious Ways

3.0 out of 5.0

I was going to give this place a rating of 2 but thought perhaps I was being a little unfair at this stage in our relationship.

It would be accurate to say that this pub is laid-back, has comfortable seating and nice decor, and that the staff working behind the small bar are all friendly. I've only been here once and also felt extremely relaxed and enjoyed that everyone was quietly doing their own thing.

There were 2 things, however, that grated me:

1. U2 seemed to be the only band on rotation. Not that I dislike U2, but there are so many times you can listen to Achtung Baby in a given night.

2. The lighting was all wrong!! If you read the other reviews I've written, you'll quickly pick up that I'm the chief inspector of the London lighting police force. Anyway, back to groundhog day: in 2 corners the lightling was subtle but everywhere else was not too dissimilar from a night game at Wembley. For me, lights should come on when the bar is closing, otherwise lets keep them down and create an atmosphere that is cosy, appears cleaner, cool, and where everyone is much better to look at.

Anyway, I expressed my grave concerns to the manager on duty was promised that my suggested lighting regime would be taken into consideration. Hence me giving them a rating of 3 out of 5.......for now anyway.
