I wasn't drawn to Macondo for the food but rather the cozy atmosphere however much to my pleasure, they have a really nice assortments of cakes to go with your beverage. If I were voting on best cheesecake in all of London, this would be it. It is light and fluffy and served with berries. Divine.

Everyone is laid back and just crams in for a spot with the beverage of their choice.

If you eat the meatballs you life will never be the same again! Awesome.
Great coffee, slow Mediterranean style service...

Great place to hang out whenever you have half an hour to spare. Don't take my seat!

Charming Spot in Hoxton Sq

Normally I am frankly rather wary of businesses in Hoxton Square. They have tended to let me down, usually by being either too pretentious or too pathetic. Macondo breaks the mold.
Although it is a rather puny place, Macondo is a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon, or even to meet mates for a couple drinks in the night. The place has a somewhat eclectic interior, and if you are a tall person like myself, you have to watch your head as you make your way to the counter - there's an art installation that dangles down rather low, so beware.
Still, if you can make it through the perils, you'll be rewarded with the mellow vibe and casual attitude of this Mexican cafe. I haven't had much food at Macondo, although I have often been tempted to visit for the huevos rancheros breakfast, but I have tossed back plenty of bottles of Pacifico. Smoker friendly, as well, with a heated and partially covered deck in the front.

Macondo is a haven of sanity and calm in the middle of Hoxton Square - well it seems that way.

A small cafe / bar that has some of the comfiest seats in Shoreditch, the best coffee and also the best Margaritas.

They serve great food (the Tortilla is my fave) at reasonable prices and I'm pretty sure its all cooked on the premises. For those that smoke, or those that like the outdoors on a sunny day there is a modest deck with about 6 tables on it. But its the gentle / calming atmosphere (coupled with those seats) that see this place full with people engrossed in their books.

It could be Mexican or Spanish - I don't know but they're having a special night for the Mexican 'Day of the Dead' celebration.
