NOT GOING BACK

1.0 out of 5.0

February 09, 2010

I have eaten here twice now. On both occasions the food was very tasty and very reasonably priced and I would go at least once a week. The service is appalling and I will not be going back for this reason. The male waiters are impolite, discourteous and very unwelcoming. On our second visit we tried extra hard to be extra friendly and nice but no they are just rude people who ruin this restaurant which has a great chef.

Rude waiter

Food was quite good but at the end of the day when you received such a bad service, the only thing that you can think of the next time you want to visit the place is the appalling service.

They should fired this waiter. The guy is just rude, doesn't say Hi, Thank you or apologise for delays or mistake done. He can't even take an order properly. He can never really understand what people want. Once I wanted 2 portions of one dish and made it clear I want two portions of this and it ended up just one. When we asked a waitress and she checked, apperently the waiter wrote only one.

And once when me and my friends wanted to go, we asked for our bill. We have to ask 3 times and waited for around 15 mins for the bill. We even stood up and wear our coats to show them that we really want our bill and want to go now but still no reaction from the waiter. The people next to us even asked us to go to the exit to pretend that we are leaving without paying but still nothing happend. It was really ridiculous!

The third time was when my friend and I entered and a waitress led us to a table so we seated. In a short while, this waiter came and said the table has been booked by saying jusy "booked" and didn't not even say sorry or anything but just wanted us to move to a table near to the door. In the end, we just walked out and went to a nearby Japanese restaurant as they are not the only one there.

If the restaurant wants to keep their business, they should hired a new waiter.

Where the hell were you eating?

4.0 out of 5.0

I have been eating at Eat Tokyo for at least 4 if not 5 years.

I have _never_ had a bad meal in there. It's extremely cheap. The sushi is far beyond "chain" sushi. And their serving staff are always polite.

I highly recommend the eel and cucumber maki. The Kakiage tempura is _huge_ and delicious. The Buta Shoguyaki (pork in ginger) is outstanding. Geso Kara (friend squid tentacles) crispy and tender.

My only critism would be that the service is occasionally a little slow. But I have only known this to be the case when the restaurant was completely full. I've certainly never waited more then 15 minutes for my food.

The "Sushi" incident he mentions however is true. The owners took it very seriously and the sushi chef responsible was replaced immediatly.

Overwhelmingly disappointing

The main problem was the service was absolutely terrible. We ordered 2 bottles of lager, spring rolls to

start, a mixed sushi set, and vegetable tempura noodles.

They brought the spring rolls, but no beers. We had to ask for them but we'd already finished the

starter by this time. Then after about 40 mins they eventually brought my girlfriend's sushi set, then

about 15 mins passed, and my tempura still hadn't turned up.

No-one came to check if we were ok.

We asked one waitress who said, with a bit of an attitude, 'Yes, it's coming'. Then our waitress came

and it turned out the kitchen hadn't even cooked it. She did apologise, but no-one offered complementary

drinks etc. I was told it was being cooked now. It took another 15 mins to cook by which time my g/f had

finished her meal.

Then to top it all off, I was ill through the night, I could hardly sleep and I was sick the next

morning. I think it was on account of how drenched in fat my meal was though nothing dodgy, but then I don't know for sure... I've just seen an article about the chef preparing sushi outside next to bins, so god knows what the kitchen is like.

The sushi was ok, but you'd be much better off going to a chain.

£30 for 2, for sub mediocre food and poor service, with an attitude in the case of one waitress.

Even asking for the bill took ages, the waitress had to go through each item and check the huge tome of

a menu for the price. We had to stand over her in the end to hurry her along.

They desparately need a visit from Gordon Ramsay.
