Fab little South Indian in Tooting. The decor is a bit full on – with giant palm fringed beach scenes on the walls, a giant Krishna in the corner and twinkling coloured fairy lights dotted around the windows, however this does make it feel a bit like eating somewhere in India – especially when it’s a hot summers eve outside. A high proportion of Indian families sitting down to dinner, also reassures that this is one of the more authentic places in town. A fabulous masala dosa started things off nicely – light crispy pancake wrapped around a spiced potato mix accompanied by a minty yoghurt sauce and a small pot of curry to enable you to customize your bites. Next we ordered a chilli fish curry and chicken dopiaza – both were light and flavourful and devoid of heavy gloopy sauces. Some steamed rice and fresh baked chapattis rounded off the carb corner. Accompanied by a large bottle of Kingfisher beer and a glass of house white, the total bill came to £25. Very reasonable indeed, and with such friendly service, I’ll definitely make the pilgrimage back!
