Don't go here. the service is terrible!
July 15, 2011
Great service, quick and efficient... and cheap!

I had my laptop cover broken and they replace it for the new one.
The first time, the cover I gave them it was not the correct one, so they advise me on how to buy the correct one and they didn't charge me anything. Even thought they work on the laptop for a few hours.
They were quick, efficient and very professionally.
Once I got the correct cover, Larry replace it in 2 hours.
Larry was the guy who fix my problem, and who advise me.

My son’s ipod touch needed repairing a couple of months ago (dodgy headphone socket) and having asked around I was pointed to Micromend. Dropped it in and it was repaired, no problems the next day.
Had to take it back today as the headphone socket was dodgy again and the chaps fixed it while I waited (the socket was moving slightly in the case so the plug was not going home fully). As a previous correspondent mentions, the place is a bomb site and on the surface they can seem a little surly, but on the whole nice friendly chaps if you have a chat with them. And finally it’s nice to be able to have a modern high tech gadget repaired, for a reasonably sum, and not have to wait weeks and pay the manufacturer a fortune.

My Mac needed a repair and as a local business I thought I'd try Micro Mend on Tottenham Street. I left my mac with them for three or four hours and they called me when they'd had a look at it to tell me what was wrong and what my options were. They fixed it straight away and I had my computer back the same day. I've read some unflattering reviews of this shop but I only have praise for them They guys were both so helpful and kept me informed all the way. Thank you and I will be using you again!

Yes, I am trying to post this in as many places as possible. Because I missed the reviews and other people should NOT! Do not go to this place unless you want to waste your precious time for months and months!
I never write reviews for places, but this time I have to. To warn other people who might end up in the same situation. Don't fall for their nonsense like I did! I should have checked the reviews before going in this place, I was already hesitant to give my laptop them. I had looked up reviews for the shop YoYoTech, I told them my laptop's issue and they gave me a number and said this guy will help you. They did not say this person was not even a part of their company! This shop, Micromend has two guys, one who repairs Macs and one who repairs PCs. I don't have anything to say about the Mac guy, because I have a PC. The guy for the PCs, never called back, I constantly had to ring to see what was going on with my laptop. He asked me for an insane price and even though I had told myself I would simply get a new laptop if the cost of fixing was too high,I still went ahead with it because he told me I had to make a decision fast (this was a phone call). He turned it on in the shop, it worked, I paid, went home. I turn it on at home and it stopped working after 10min. After this...it was just a nightmare, he did not supply me with a receipt till after 2 weeks! So I had no proof whatsoever that I used his services. He said he had a look at it, let me take it back, didn't work again, etc. I felt this was turning into one big joke. He was terribly rude and told me that if I didn't like it then the door is right there. I have never EVER been treated in such an incompetent way. My laptop is completely useless now, and I feel very very cheated. Doesn't start his work on time and keeps you waiting for months, rude rude and terribly rude. You cannot treat customers this way. The fact that they have had the police there because a customer flipped out doesn't seem to worry them much. They should take a hint. While there, a girl came into the shop and before she could speak he said 'not ready yet.' The door says 'it's not a right to enter, it's a priviledge.' Arrogant, incompetent, terrible! Thinking about the time and money I've wasted on this place just brings back a lot of frustration and anger.
EDIT: I wish something would be done against shops like this. I have been thinking if this can be reported somewhere. Places like these need to be reviewed to see if they can keep running their business. It amazes me that with so many people unhappy there is no one checking out if this place is doing a proper job! PLEASE if you have had a bad experience here, report it! If nobody does this, they can continue what they're doing. They need to understand that a customer needs to be valued, you pay good money for a service, you should receive a good service. They should be happy to help, rather than be rude and dismissive and showing you the door.
[edit 2] I agree with John D. that due to their aggressive nature even I was scared to return to their shop. The tone while on the phone was often aggressive and rudeas well.

I won't tell you the details of my dealings with Micromend, for fear that they read this and trash my computer.
Let's just say I was too scared to go back and retrieve my property because of the aggressive nature one of the workers there.
I've worked in computer repairs, so I know how stressful it can be, but no one should ever be too frightened to enter a store in order to get their property back.
The workers need a dose of valium.

I took my DVD player in for a simple repair.
After a few months i started calling to see when it was going to be fixed, nothing.
6-8 months later i get a call out of the blue, to come in and collect, not only collect, but by 5pm that day, or it'll cost me more, not very proffesional, and quite odd, no?
After paying my money, and getting my DVD player home, i discovered the small but watchable fault, it once had, was now a totally disabling one. I mean it didn't play, and made a funny noise.
I took it back to them, they said i had damaged it on my way home!? It was wrapped in bubble wrap, and taken in a taxi for the record.
The DVD player is still with them, after a year, i would imagine they've decided to keep it, or sell it, who knows. I phoned several times, each time, he isn't there, or hasn't started it yet, i've now given up.
To boot, they're rude and arrogant.
Avoid like the plague, is most accurate.

Quite simply the worst service I've ever experienced – steer clear of these nasty, rude, incompetent clowns.
On the night my laptop broke I called the store at 6pm to see what time it closed and was told 7pm - I said I could get to the store for 6.45pm and asked if that was too late to have my laptop fixed, as there was another computer repair shop I could go to if that was the case. I was told that was fine and I arrived at the store 6.50pm with my laptop. The guy, Russell, promptly opened it and the issue was diagnosed - so far, so good.
Then the problems started. I needed to retrieve data from my laptop for an important university assignment due in the next day, but the guy wouldn't let me see what data he was copying, and I was chastised like a naughty child for asking. He told me not to worry he would copy the entire desktop. While he was copying the data, I innocuously asked as to why some of the files wouldn’t copy. He shouted at me that he had a young child and mother to get home to who were waiting for their dinner, and he didn’t have time to answer such stupid questions.
He then told me he didn't have time to put my laptop back together - even though it had only taken him 5 minutes to dismantle it. If I wanted it put it back together he would charge me £40 for an hours labour. I really needed the data for my assignment the next day and I didn't want to leave the laptop dismantled as I felt there was a risk he hadn’t copied the data properly, but I didn’t have a spare £40 and he assured me the data transfer had been correctly done. I was clearly upset, but the dude couldn’t have cared less.
When I got home I realised he hadn't copied the desktop as he said he would and the data I needed was sitting in my hardrive in the store which had now closed.
I returned to the store the next morning and dealt with someone called Larry. Larry told me that it didn’t surprise him Russell messed it up as Russell is a Mac expert and my laptop was not a Mac. Larry said he could transfer the data for me but I would need to give him something for his time – despite the fact that his colleague had messed up the data retrieval to begin with. Larry told me I had been undercharged and would either need to pay more (and it was a lot more) or else leave him the laptop as recompense for the 15 minutes it took him to get my data off the hardrive.
The laptop was knackered and I had a new one at home so agreed to leave it to him – but told him I wanted my hardrive back, to which he agreed. However when he had finished copying the data and I went to leave the store he didn’t want to give me the hardrive - I had to threaten to take the entire laptop back and just pay him extra before he would return it to me.
It’s also worth mentioning that the few people who came in and out during my time in the store were equally badly treated and pissed off. Retail hell – use only if you’re a masochist out for a beating.

The headphone jack on my iPod broke last night and after having phoned Apple to organise a repair I was slightly shocked (and a little perplexed) to hear that they charge a flat rate of £116 for any repair on an iPod which is now out of warranty.
Cue a few searches on Google and I came across Micromend. I gave them a call and was told that they don't replace iPod headphone jacks as they are prone to breaking but do a "hard fix" which will ensure that it doesn't break again.
I've just come back from Micromend with an iPod which works absolutely perfectly and was repaired in half an hour for £45 - a lot less than what Apple wanted to charge me.
Very impressed with the service and found the person I dealt with incredibly helpful.
A word of warning though - don't be put off by the interior of the place as it looks like a bomb has hit it with bits of iPods, Macs and other electronic equipment stewn all over the place.
