Expensive blob of white stuff..

The concept is pretty cool, this mozzarella bar is buried in the middle of the women's floor at selfridges, so you can watch women shop while you eat... if you're into that sort of thing.

It's pretty much as advertised as they serve you a big blob of the finest bufallo mozzarella flown in fresh from Italy three times a week.

You get a selection of cured meats on the side - alot of it, on the occasion I went, I plonked for the parma ham and it was sweet and nutty.

Three types of mozza to choose from a light, medium and smoky flavour - the waiter suggested I go medium.

While it tasted 'good' for mozzarella which in itself is quite a bland and tasteless cheese, it didnt do anything spectacular for me. The ham was good (but so is sainsbury finest) and the dish was £13 - which I think is abit of a rip-off.

I also ordered bread (£1.75) - great value and huge portion and a coke , plus service everything came to nearly £20.

Unless you particularly enjoy bird watching in selfridges - I think there are much better ways to spend £20 than a marginally good cheese/ham combo which you can get for a quarter of the price at your local grocers.
