Coming from an American girl, Waitrose is like the Whole Foods of the UK! It is such an adorable supermarket. Super clean with roomy aisles. There was also a wide variety of organic fruits, veggies, and other food products. There are also high-quality store brand items. Very impressive. Even the ready-made sandwiches are delicious! My favorite part of the supermarket is of course the dessert aisle! There is always a nice selection of cakes and cookies! Wonderful.

Having recently moved into the area, I was having a difficult time dealing with the various miniature supermarkets that I found. Either you had to settle for a M&S Simply Food at Euston Station or the various Tesco Expresses in the area, none of which quite carry enough produce to really qualify as a supermarket (not that they claim to be one). I thought that I was going to be stuck humping bags of food from a Sainsbury on High Holborn until I stumbled upon this Waitrose, an anchor tenant at the Brunswick Center in Bloomsbury.
The place is HUGE! I was ecstatic when I first entered as it has rows and rows of goods for sale, including two long aisles of fresh produce, a specialized cheese section, a butcher with fresh fish and a deli with various lunch meats as well as prepared foods. Beyond that, you've got all the standard supermarket fare, from packaged food to canned and preserved, as well as fresh bread, beverages (including a large wine and spirits section) and home goods (cleaning supplies, paper products, pet food, kitchen ware, pet food, etc).
Prices at Waitrose are a bit higher than at those Tesco Expresses, but for me the wide selection and nearby location make it worthwhile. Certainly useful for special occasions, if not for general shopping.
