perky pub

Because of it's close proximity to King's College and the LSE, of course it's full of students. But the atmosphere is very different upstairs and downstairs. Upstairs, it's mostly students. They're crowded around the small tables and tucked in little booths. Downstairs, it's a crowd that's a bit more older. Some look like regular barflies. Overall it's a great pub with cheap drinks, all around 3 pounds. I've been having the organic wheat beer... very nice...

Great Student Pub

The Lyceum is a fine pub on the Strand, just before Aldwych. Proximity to the London School of Economics and Kings College coupled with the cheap Samuel Smith brews mean that this place can get crowded with students, particularly after class time (and between classes, and during class for that matter), but if things are too busy on the ground floor there is a somewhat more spacious area upstairs with another bar. No music, no brand name liquor, no nonsense. There are also cozy booths that you can tuck away into with a date or to debate the finer points of post-structuralist critical theory or the latest tragedy to befall the English national team.
