A-List Bacon and Eggs
August 24, 2008
It’s been there since the 1900s, still has the same art deco interior that was created in 1946 (now Grade II listed) and the same family has run the place since it opened in the 1900s - Pellicci's has its own place in popular culture. It was a meeting place of the Krays and has probably had more A-list celebrities than any caff in London.
This is 1950's Italian cafe culture at its very best - run by a brisk, wisecracking effusive Italian owner who will provide more entertainment and ambience than all the wifi-ish and ipod-esque Cafe Nero's and Starbucks put together. Steaming, hearty food comes whistling out of the kitchen at terrific speed - portions are very generous and freshly cooked.
Go there; shut down your wee little Macbooks, shun the free wifi emporiums and - go experience a one of a kind. If you live in London and have not had breakfast or lunch at Pellicci's - shame on you.
