This unassuming 'greasy spoon' isn't much to look at, but serves the best caff food in london. Run by, I think, an Italian family – the service is always friendly. Bacon is thick and freshly cooked – not microwaved like the nearby more trendy-friendly Mess cafe; their Bubble is the real thing, and well-worth sampling; grilled tomatoes are perfect and plentious. My only gripe is that it doesn't serve fresh coffee (unlike the Mess cafe up the road) - but that seems in keeping with the true English cafe aesthetic. Finish up your meal witl jelly and ice cream, or a pie and custard! They have a full meal menu as well as all the fry-up staples, of which I've only tried the Friday's fish special – served with chips and peas, and that is also freshly purchased, and expertly fried to crisp perfection. It is all finished off with an incredibly reasonable price – rarely over the £3.50 - £4.00 mark. It is treated like a home from home for the regulars, and I'm convinced you will not find a better cooked (on a big griddle), and more value-for-money egg and bacon, anywhere in London. (If they'd sold fresh coffee I'd give it 5 stars). Please keep this a secret, OK?
