The Drapers Is Back!

The Drapers has been re-opened by Ben Maschler, son of a top Britain restaurant critic and Nick Gibson who I believe spent some time at St. John. I went for lunch the day before it officially opened. I had the pork belly and bean soup. The pork was a little fatty for my taste, but was tasty for sure. They also didn’t have a beer selection to my liking and I plan to give them some feedback on that. The service was great though, they back garden is awesome, and I’m sure they’ll work out any kinks in the kitchen.

Real Shame...Sign of more to come?

That is a real shame. I've had a couple of terrific evenings at The Drapers Arms. I assume that this is a consequence of people tightening their belts over the past year - I hadn't heard any bad reviews.

If that is the case there must be a lot of poorer venues that are hurting at the moment, this is far from the first venue I would have cut back on.

The Draper's appears to be no more. It's all shut up, and my mate worked for their wine supplier and says they went under a few months back. Pity.

This is my favourite place to eat in Islington. Top tip on a sunny day is the garden or if its a bit cooler check out the upstairs dining room, its fantastic. The food isn't bad either!
