St Alban is the latest restaurant from Chris Corbin and Jeremy King (of Wolseley fame), serving contemporary European cuisine. The interior is very modern and as with everything these two touch, expect it to be very popular and perfectly executed.

Celeb Spot?

The restaurant is situated on lower regent street on an unassuming corner. One could walk by this place and not really have a sense of what's behind the doors or why there's this tall burly middle aged guy manning the door. Having entered the restaurant, we are shown to our table. The lighting is dim, the walls are covered in some funky squiggly line rendition of art, and to top it all off, it really is open plan! I quite like the feel. The tables seem lower and the chairs are comfy. I am relaxed. We order!...my dishes consist of french bean salad with smoked ricotta and black olive dressing, steamed filet of halibut with runner beans and grilled raddichio (although I'm still confused as to what raddichio is )...but hey I'm content! Dessert is absolutely spot on. Pistachio ice cream with zabaglioni. Couldn't have chosen better. The final cherry to this story is someone spotting a celeb. John Cleese sitting with his chums enjoying a meal..I'm not sure why I'm surprised..after all, celebs need to eat too. :)

The restaurant is not cosy or alternative, the vibe is pretty average.
There is a wide range of dishes, ranging from belly pork to halibut to pizza.
We were most impressed by the exceptional array of deserts, it is worth a visit for these..can recommend the amaretto truffle ice cream - yum!!

Contemporary class

Some friends and I had dinner at St. Alban last night. Brainchild of Chris Corbin and Jeremy King’s of Ivy fame, this place is definitely worth trying. A great menu (you know you're in trouble when there are about 5 starters you want), stylish decor (great lighting) and a laid-back atmosphere.

The Norfolk pig is definitely worth trying as are the scallops. As is the strangely named but deliciously tasty pineapple carpaccio. Good choice of wines too. And service was spot on - not too hurried.

Good for client entertaining or relaxing night out with friends. Definitely recommended
