Great Sub-Terranian Bookstote

4.0 out of 5.0

March 24, 2008

I'd walked past Skoob books a million times on my way to the nearby Waitrose, but finally curiosity got the best of me and I wandered inside. This second-hand bookshop is almost entirely below ground in a cozy little cavern. The ceilings are a bit low, but even a tall person like myself didn't quite bang my head on the exposed pipes. There are a lot of different sections and it seemed like their fiction, theater and sociology departments were the best stocked.
Obvious as a second hand bookstore you can't count on it to be comprehensive, but it is great for browsing and you'll sometimes stumble upon some great book that you had forgotten about or never even heard of before. I found a couple good books for school at a great discount (10% off for students, by the way) and was very pleased with the prices. There are numerous chairs, although I doubt that you could easily sit in any of them for too long, as they are all more or less blocking some passage or bookshelf. Still, a very charming little book shop in Bloomsbury.
