The sophistication and elegance of Black Cherry is evident as soon as you step through the doors onto the dark, wooden floors. Roses and candlelight make every table hum and sparkle, creating a perfect dating ground. The luxurious surroundings combine with music that blends into relaxed conversation, and ultimately makes for a very pleasurable, unisex environment.

Angela Rush, owner of Black Cherry Bar, designed her establishment with women in mind, the ambience, however does not pigeonhole men as outsiders. She aimed to offer stylish décor, chilled tunes, fantastic service, and an atmosphere that wasn't intimidating in order to create a hotspot for meeting friends.

A nice local...

Good cocktails menu and the food is alright, it doesn't try to be fancy and is isn't. They don't have a veggie roast option on sundays though which is a shame.

I asked if they did a veggie roast alternative one sunday and the barman didn't seem to know what to say, headed off to the kitchen then came back to say they could offer the roast without meat and just extra trimmings and he'd knock £1 of the price. Surely having a nut roast or veggie pie on offer for us veggies wouldn't be too much work for the chef?

A bar with a bit of everything

Being a local I love this place. The food is fine (not gourmet but then it doesn't pretend to be), the wine list is extensive and the cocktails awesome. Pretty cool decor inside too. It's great to have this independently run bar in the area, to stop East Dulwich turning into another bland all bar one type of place. And a good alternative to the EDT/Bishop. It even does afternoon tea, which is perfect for people watching through its floor to ceiling glass frontage. So hats off to them - Go there!

A great little bar that works hard to provide something different for East Dulwich, in a street full of great places. Great cocktails, an excellent back bar selection, interesting beers and, for the most part, decent service. There's always a lively atmosphere - a good, fun place to get together with friends.

The food is basic bar food, but made fresh on the premises, not pre-pack stuff.
