Menu improving every time

Great tasty burritos and tacos. The follow the californian style but are totally unique in London. I've been eating at Mucho Mas since they opened and I should mention that the quality of the food has improved over time (earlier reviewers - I suggest you go back and re-assess). I also heard they have a "secret menu" if you go back there enough.

Best Mexican since being in US

5.0 out of 5.0

I stumbled upon this place after reading the reviews here... and then had to try it out for myself. I've been to just about every Mexican restaurant in London (became hooked after spending a year in the US) and have been to Mucho Mas about 5 times now. It seems like a few of below reviews are from Americans - which is all well and good, but we're in London, so here's my English perspective...

My last visit was Wednesday evening - the place was completely full on both ground and first floors. I had a steak burrito with pinto beans (which are a new menu addition - has only been black beans until now). Steak was absolutely lovely as always - super juicy, tender, tangy with a hint of spice. The pinto beans had a nice meaty flavour - spoke with one of staff and apparently they're made with a bit of bacon. Rest of the burrito was extremely fresh tasting - which is why I keep coming back. From my first visit I've been shocked with the quality and quantity of food you get for the price.

Washed everything down with a Modelo Negra, or Negra Modelo - can't remember exact name but it's a dark Mexican beer - very tasty as well.

As for the sour cream (read a couple of comments about it below) - I love it. Apparently they put a bit of coriander and lime juice in it... to liven it up a bit.

Decent...but not like home...

Mucho Mas is ok... good for London. It is still not as good as the states and they don't use real sour cream, and they have fake cheese ( or at least it tastes fake because it has no flavor ) and they are always out of chicken and guac when I go...those are my two faves, so that is annoying.

A friend of mine ( who is also obsessed with Burritos ) took me to a place down the street called Tortilla last week. A better burrito for sure. Still not as good as the places in the Mission in San Francisco...but pretty close! The best in London I think.

Mucho Mediocre

Good things about Mucho Mas:
- They try to serve real burritos, essentially in the model of Chipotle
- They have bottles of Cholula hot sauce on every table
- Spicy actually means spicy

Bad things about Mucho Mas:
- No bean choice (only black beans)
- They don't use sour cream, they use "sour cream sauce", whatever that is
- Something in their burritos tastes like Cool Ranch Doritos (maybe the "sour cream sauce" or the herbed rice)
- Pricey for a burrito (although if I need a fix, I need a fix)

In summary, I think Mucho Mas is just okay; maybe good by London standards, but it could so easily be better (real sour cream, refried beans and whole pinto beans, a spicy pico de gallo, addition of watermelon or any other agua fresca, etc.). I'll probably go back if I am in the area and craving Mexican food (when am I not craving Mexican food?), but I won't go out of my way. I'll probably ditch the sour cream sauce next time to see if it is the cool ranch culprit. I'm from San Francisco, where the burrito is worshiped in cult-like fashion, so I'm probably overly critical. One day, someone is going to do Mexican food properly in London and hopefully people will take notice.

The new Mexican food wave has hit London...finally. For anybody who appreciates great quality Mexican...especially burritos, this is your place! No cheesy Taco Bell variety here...just big, fat, juicy and most importantly, FRESH quality buttitos. Couple that with fast, friendly service and a cold cerveza and you are in Mexican heaven...MMMMMMMMUCHO MAS - grazias!

"More more more how do you like it how do you like it" - Seriously though, this is a good offer. Slap down £5, get served a tasty burrito, happiness ensues. They also do a good job on the drinks.

Yo Quiero Mas from Mucho Mas

I don't mean to rain on the parade, and I do agree that this is the best burrito I've had thus far in London, but I was not left with an overwhelmingly glowing impression of Mucho Mas. Although the burrito was indeed large by London standards, it was still a bit puny by my own, and there was a decided lack of skill in rolling and wrapping it on the part of my server. I also would have appreciated a broader choice of beans (they serve black beans only), salsas (there are four salsas, which is not nothing, but I found myself dousing my burrito in the hot sauce found on the tables to get more flavor) and other toppings (most notably jalapenos). Although Corona is served, I'd prefer a Negra Modelo or Pacifico any day.
All that aside, this is a somewhat inspired, filling 'San Francisco style' burrito in a cool neighborhood at a decent price (my chicken burrito with all the fixings came to about £5.50). It's clear that the people behind Mucho Mas have studied Californian taquerias as well as the national chain Chipotle and stick to the relatively slick, stainless steel style common to those businesses, and I would not be surprised to see this restaurant successfully expanding throughout London.
