Cocktail-o-clock!
October 03, 2007
This bar looks slightly out of place on the long stretch of pale pastel coloured shops that line the long stretch of Lordship lane. With a dark minimalist concrete front with heavy glass door, Liquorice certainly won’t appeal to those seeking a cosy pub to drink a pint of ale.
This bar's main appeal is the extensive and well executed list of cocktails – lots of innovative mixtures, and most are less than £7, which for London is pretty good going. They serve food as well (burgers, mezze), but it’s really more to soak up the alcohol than a destination place for food. Well, at least with the amount of fruit inside the drinks/attached to the glasses, you can be take comfort that you are getting your 5-a-day here.
It gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights, and they have a DJ spinning choons for those who fancy a bit of a boogie on the small dance space later on.
I probably wouldn’t spend an entire evening here, but this is a great place to come for a pre or post dinner cocktail.
