Best museum for kids in London

5.0 out of 5.0

March 18, 2008

This place is great for the kids. Lots of hands on activities happening at the weekend. There is a part of the music collection which lets children make as much noise as possible. Loads of outside garden space for running round afterwards as well.

Little bit outside of central London but worth the trip.

Eclectic Victorian Collection

4.0 out of 5.0

November 19, 2007

This little tucked away gem is a great way to spend a couple of hours. Don't be put off by the obscure location - this means the museum avoids the over cowding that plagues the bigger London attractions.
The Horniman houses an extensive collection from Victorian times - a biology section with all manner of stuffed critters including the infamous obese walrus, Japanese prints, archaeological artefacts, a wonderful aquarium in the basement, changing current exhibits and extensive gardens. And it's all free! Once your senses are overloaded, relax in the cafe with scones and a pot of tea for the quintessentially English day out.
