Brixton always makes me feel like I’m on holiday. Its streets buzz with a melting pot of cultures and it is not rare to find live music outside the station or on the corner of the high road. It also accommodates an array of pubs and bars that seep with energy and one in particular is the Effra pub on Kellet road which serves traditional homemade Jamaican food brewed by the owner’s Nan. For music lovers throughout the week you can find top quality jazz performed by some of London’s best artists. The venue is cosy and far from pretentious offering tunes that suit a Sunday mood down to a T. Whether you are nursing a hangover or just want to chill this is an ideal venue for a weekly catch up that made me question why aren’t all pubs in London as good as this?
