Great for Post-Grads

4.0 out of 5.0

As one of the school-owned pubs at the LSE, the George IV tends to attract a mostly post-grad crowd of students, with most of the other students opting for the Three Tuns a few steps away. Although the George is slightly more expensive (around 3 pounds a pint compared to 2 pounds at the Tuns), it has a more amenable atmosphere with a lot more light and comfy seats.
That said, sometimes the George can get way too crowded, and there aren't a ton of seats inside, so often if you come after the stroke of five, the best you can hope for is a spot on the curb to stand with your mates.
Probably the most notable attribute of the George is its selection of real ales, which cycles frequently, allowing you to try a range of classic ales. The staff are a mix of students and otherwise, and sometimes can be frankly prickly (I'm thinking of one bartender specifically here), but I spose they do have to deal with crowds of penny-pinching students, so it might be to be expected.
