A Japanese oasis

Very good value takeaway sushi.

There are all sorts of varieties to choose from, as well. Combination of the following: brown rice sushi, white rice sushi, shrimp, salmon, tuna, spicy, tempura, or standard are plentiful. Six pieces of maki will run you £2.10 to £3.00.

You don't have to eat sushi, either. Plenty of warm options are also available.

Even the service is Japanese: polite and courteous.

The attached restaurant is also delicious, but best for when you have more than 20 minutes.

Japan Centre is so great. The prices have really increased over the last couple of years but hey what hasn't. But what is great is that even still the prices are definately not there to rip you off, and you can tell because the large majority of customers are Japanese. The sushi they sell there isn't the best (but good), I prefer Yoshino which used to be in the basement next door, and are currently relocating - however its still fairly priced, and there is a great selection. Plus they recently added a few tables and chairs meaning you can actually take advantage of the take away prices but still sit and have lunch.

There is a seriously huge selection of noodles, sauces, frozen goods, even cool little kitchen contraptions plus staff are super helpful which comes in handy for the items which don't have translations on! Oh plus keep your ears open there is always the oddest selection of music on, last time I heard a Japanese inspired redo of the Schindler's List soundtrack - serious!
