Pushy service, great view

Arranged a birthday party with 7 people for lunch. Waiter was obnoxiously pushy when it came to the alcohol and dessert; and non-existent when we needed him. Food was appropriately trendy but nothing special. Amazing view.

The top of the Oxo Tower is split up into 3 sections - there's the bar, the not so posh food bit and then the restaurant proper.

I've never eaten here but I've been coming to the bar for a few years now - its got that kind of 80's Manhatten vibe about it - its on the 8th floor which helps but the wooden topped bar with leather arm rests and mulitcolor cocktails create an atmosphere that might be perfectly complemented by the appearance of Kenny G. Actually maybe thats a little unfair - but they do have live music in the form of flamenco guitar or sometimes a piano playing crooner.

The wine / champagne / cocktail list is extensive but if you're just after a beer you're looking at over priced Nastro Azzuro.

To me the best thing about this place is the look-out balcony - its not covered so its a bit useless in the rain but the view over St Pauls and the rest of London is awesome.

I went here on a client lunch, but you really got the feeling noone was paying for their own meal. The view is spectacular over the Thames, but nothing else was. I can't fault anything in particular, it was all just fine. The service was impersonal, the food sufficiently trendy, and the atmosphere non-existent.

A safe bet for a stiff client, but not somewhere i will rush back to.
