Sticky Icky Icky

3.0 out of 5.0

January 28, 2008

I saw Rilo Kiley here in November. I was glad to see that one of my favorite bands were booked in the UK while I was in town. I was very excited.

It's an okay venue. But the nice thing about it is it's size. The venue is huge! It can hold up to 2,000 people. There was plenty of standing room, but it filled up very quickly. Luckily, we arrived pretty early and got a good standing spot. I just wish that the floor was a bit more slanted, because when you're short it's hard to get a good view. Though I usually like to sit on the ground to rest in between sets, the floor was so sticky and disgusting from plastic cups and spilled beer that I would not even think about it. Thus, my back was hurting by the second hour.

Nonetheless, Grand Ole Party and Rilo Kiley put on a very good show. The set list included all their albums and the sound was pretty good.

Of course, your experience depends on who you see. But here are some things you should know:
- There are plenty of bars in different parts of the venue.
- Coat check costs money, and the line gets really long after a show.
- Get there early to grab good standing seats.
- Ignore the jerk in the crowd... there will always be a jerk or two.
