Handy by the station...
October 22, 2008
This is a handy place to meet up in Clapham Junction, as it's just outside the station exit, but it's also very popular with the local trendies, so unless that's your scene and you don't mind fighting for your square inch to see and be seen in, you'll probably want to be moving on before the bouncers take up station at the door to keep it from getting too crowded (which it usually already is by then) Having said that, it's not a bad place if you're early or lucky enough to get a good spot. There's a raised area opposite the bar with some lovely comfy sofas, and a few tables in the french windows which open up completely in warmer weather so you're practically on the pavement. Both spots are excellent for people-watching, and there's usually a fair bit of eye-candy around! The service is friendly and cheerful, but it can be a bit slow when they're rammed, like on weekend nights - and the food is okay for a bar, if slightly on the pricey side. It's handy for the Clapham Grand if you're going clubbing later, or just to fall out of into the station. The taxi rank is right outside too.
