Mediocre pub saved by 25 Sausages
April 01, 2008
Normally pubs on the Dick Whittington's Ale Trail are the epitome of mediocracy which makes me want to scratch off my own face.
However I stumbled into this bizarre pub when my boyfriend was looking for somewhere to watch the football.
It has all the trappings of your standard crappy chain pub, but a little something extra makes this somewhere fun and exceptional: sausages.
For some unknown reason Nicholson's Pubs have decided that this pubs' speciality should be sausage.
There is a huge chalk board detailing the types and availability of over 25 sausages which are apparently supplied by the same guy who supplies Harrods. Now I'm no snob (okay I am) but considering you can get a plate of mash and 4 sausages for £6 I think that's something to write home about.
On Tuesday evenings they do a sausage and ale sampling which means you can give some of their sausages a try. My favorites are Pork and Cheddar, and Venison and Huckleberry; yum yum.
Also if you're a stickler for period features the ladies toilets still use their Victorian wooden wash basins.
