Into the opium den...

3.0 out of 5.0

November 28, 2008

I do love the décor of Bam-bou with all the references to a romantic opium-riddled London. It’s pretty dark inside so if you go for lunch you always get that weird coming out of club feeling when you leave. The legendary bar on the 5th floor is a great place to go for cocktails, they are pretty divine.

However, the food is pretty ordinary. It’s well cooked and there’s nothing wrong with it, but nothing makes me think, ‘wow I need to come back here’.

Still Hot!

5.0 out of 5.0

October 19, 2008

I hadn't been here in a good number of years when Bam Bou was one of the hot restaurants in town with a packed members bar / club on the top floor.
Booking in for this Saturday I was a little sceptical of how tired it might be after such an amount of time, Boom and Bust in so many ways!

I was not disappointed. The place still buzzes, the food was excellent and I'll be back again soon.

A fairly short menu of pan Asian delights, we had the sticky ribs, which we held the mains back to have another round of, calamari, Asian herb salad, lamb and butternut pumpkin curry, vegetable curry, chicken green curry and seared beef. All was incredibly tasty and the seared beef was as tender as I have ever had.
