Best eggs in London!
October 15, 2007
When I think of Raouls, I'm always reminded of the joke about the guy in the bar using the poor pickup line "How would you like your eggs in the morning?" to which he gets the response "UNFERTLISED!". :-) Well, depending on how you like your eggs, Raouls serves up the yellowest eggs from Tuscanny, Italy, and a reason why I go there (at least) every weekend.
Firstly, let me specify that you have Raouls deli, with great takeaway food (we LOVE their Chicken Lemon Soup) and then there's the restaurant across the road. The decor is trendy with a stylish contemporary design and the flowers are often provided by Absolute Flowers from across the road (I'm a big fan of their arrangements).
The food is always extremly fresh and good (we've never had a bad meal there) and be prepared to queue after 1pm in the weekends. In addition to the eggs, there's also a great selection of smoothies as well as a tasty burger. The menu is quite varied but I guarantee that you'll find it difficult making a choice. If you like fresh mint tea, they provide a glass with a big sprig of fresh mint. It's the real deal! It's also great in the evenings for a casual dinner.
My only contention is the service. When its busy, the drinks can arrive later than the food probably due to their separation from the food and drinks section. It's also not possible to book a table so as I mentioned, be prepared to queue.
There's also a Raouls in Notting Hill if you want to check that out. It has a different layout but the same quality you can expect from Raouls.
Be prepared for some celebrity spotting too.
