So I've been living in London for coming on 9 months now, but I realize that apart from a day trip to Bath/Stonehenge, I've never set foot outside the capital! I have, in previous visits to the UK, been out to Wales and Cambridge, but I am thinking that I'd like to try and see some more of Britain before I leave this summer. What are the essential things to see? Cities to go to, places to visit (I've heard Lake Counties are really lovely for a hike, for instance). I'm looking at short, maybe weekend trips, but I'd love to hear anybodies advice about what I ought to see before its too late!
