Ok so I don't know if you've seen the new Microsoft ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates? The whole campaign is meant to have cost 300 million US and Seinfeld was supposedly paid 10 million US to appear. You can check the first 2 ads here

Personally I thought they were useless. Yes they're funny but to me all it does is reinforce the idea that Microsoft, both in the consumers' eyes and internally, is this huge confused company that doesn't really know where to position itself.
That was until I saw the new ad

Now some people have speculated that because of negative responses Microsoft pulled that campaign

However I'm thinking that perhaps the company just wanted to hit us with a one two - first they get us all sitting up in our seats going WTF! to the first 2 and then they come along and completely change tact with the 3d ad - would we have cared if they had just released the 3rd ad on its own? I don't think so. Also the third ad completely makes Apple look like a bunch of snarky kids picking on older people with real jobs. Thoughts?
