I feel like even in the short time I've been here in the UK that the price of a pint a beer has been edging ever upwards. It's gotten to the point where I think that the £1.70 pints at the (subsidized) students union pub is a bargain compared to the extortionate prices at more upscale locations (and even standard pubs!).
I'd say I more or less top out at £3, but if I don't want to be a drain on the fun, I'll manage £3.50 with complaints. What's the most you lot will suffer to pay for a pint of draft beer?

The John Snow sells Sam Smith pints mostly for under £2, and some are Ales served cold which is a huge +. So the question is how can there be such a big gap in price? My guess is someone in the supply chain is fleecing us! There are too many players, what we need are more micro-breweries where we can drink/buy straight from the source. Are there ANY in London?

I don't have a problem like that as there is always somebody who pays for my pint:)

Yeah I am all about the Sam Smith pubs, they definitely are bringing a commitment to keeping their drinks affordable which I appreciate. I think you're right, there must be some kind of supply-chain issue, and I don't quite get that considering all of the consolidation within the pubs in London - most of the chains like Shepherd's Neame or Fullers or Youngs (and the even bigger ones) have dozens or hundreds of locations, why can't they drive down prices with their bulk orders?
Argh, expensive beer!!
