Opera Glasgow Reviews

Good Honest Food & Fun Staff - I have been 'Opera-ing' most days at lunchtime for going on 2 years now and thought it was about time someone commented on this inviting little place.

Advertising as a sandwich and coffee bar, Opera sits on Waterloo street in Glasgow. It's a great placement in the business district of the city centre and has a fairly regular clientèle. However, this should not put anyone off visiting as the staff only need to see your face once before you are greeted specially the next time you arrive. Friendly down to earth and genuine girls populate the shop and make each visit feel like going home for lunch whether you sit in or takeaway.

On to the food... simply delightful, ensured by high quality in house chef's. Home made soups are in mass quantity with usually around 6 different choices that change often and always taste like granny's. Sandwiches use the highest quality ingredients and no skimping on them. Made to order in your choice of breads, rolls, paninis, brown, white, wholegrain... and that's just the cold sandwiches.

The hot food is fantastic with great choice of standard all day breakfast foods & baked potatoes etc. Additionally, a daily chef's special or 2 helps your decision to return for something new every day. Delights such as steak pie, cajun pork, curries, stuffed chicken breast. All with a choice of mashed potato, chips, rice etc. My mouth is watering as I type.

If I had to srubbishe for one gripe, it would be the prices, but I can't argue with this as the food is well worth the price you pay therefore my 5 star rating shall not drop to a 4. I've paid as much in high street supermarkets for a sandwich that I've chewed through wishing I hadn't bothered and I don't go back and buy another. That's not the case with Opera.

Overall, the eatery is a delightfully charming little shop with great staff and delicious food. I highly recommend, especially if you are working in the business district of the city.
