Orange sell an Apple that's a Lemon - The Orange Shop in Eldon Square ruined christmas.
My wife and I visited the Orange Shop in Newcastle Eldon Square and agreed to buy a 32 gig Iphone 4 after confirming that they had them in stock.
I bought the Iphone 4 32 gig and a 24 month contract for my wife for Christmas.
The Shop sold the contract but then told us they did not have a phone for us.
We requested to cancel the contract and purchase, since it was conditional on the shop having the 32 gig phone available.
The manager of the shop would not cancel the contract/purchase and would not remove our details from his system.
We were forced to collect a phone from the Metro Centre Orange shop instead.
A young member of staff at the Metro Centre found it amusing to keep us waiting and refused to hand over the phone despite the fact that we had the receipt from the Newcastle store.
After 10 to 15 minutes of being messed around we eventually got the phone.
The Phone developed problems when connected to ITunes on 25/12/2010.
It took 12 attempts on 3 PCs and 2 lap tops before we could restore the phone to working order.
The LCD screen had an intermittent bleed in the top left hand corner.
Orange customer support acknowledged the poor service and gave 3 months credit but would not give us a new phone
The Orange shop in Newcastle refused to deal with us; In fact they told lies about us saying we had been shouting and swearing in the shop. Branch reference R263.
I requested that Orange reviewed the security tapes for the shop but the Newcastle store Manager refused.
We reported the faults to orange and also reported the poor signal strength.
Orange said they would allow us to use the T Mobile network as well as the Orange network; however this is still outstanding.
The issues are : -
1. The shop conned us into taking out a contract for a phone they did not have.
2. The shop refused to cancel the contract and remove our personal details when they told us they did not have a phone.
3. The shop manager lied about our conduct in the store when challenged by Orange customer support.
4. The phone has two intermittent faults -the hang up with ITunes and the lcd bleed.
5. The phone has poor signal reception
All we wanted was a new phone that worked as described with acceptable signal strength; the agreed 3 months compensation and an unreserved apology from the store managers in Eldon Square and the Metro Centre.
Avoid these two stores like the plague.
In fact buy a phone from anyone else apart from Orange.
